GCTP Meeting Next Tuesday, September 27: The Three “L”s of Learning, Lobbying and Lawyering (Mr. John Hart, General Counsel, Center for Christian Virtue)

Mr. John Hart, the General Counsel of the Center for Christian Virtues (CCV), formerly Citizens for Community Values, will speak on “Learning, Lobbying and Lawyering,” as it refers to school and education efforts, legislative efforts, and case discussion. The CCV is Ohio’s largest Christian public policy organization by advocating for public policy that reflects the truth of the Gospel.   Mr. Hart will also discuss what actions all of us can take to advance the cause of religious liberty.

John Hart has been with CCV since early 2021 after spending 9 years at his alma mater, Cedarville University, as its first ever in-house lawyer where he continues to serve in a limited legal role. Before that John served as the first University Counsel and Director of Legal Affairs at the University of Dayton for 27 years. Aaron Baer, President of Center for Christian Virtue, said, “With John’s extensive experience and background in education and religious freedom, he brings a unique skill set and expertise to serve the Body of Christ for such a time as this.” John provides the entire CCV team valuable legal counsel and guidance across the many CCV initiatives.

John has a heart for community service and has worked with many organizations. Briefly it includes advisor to the Christian Legal Society Chapter at Law School, a board member of the Forge Leadership Network and Dayton Christian School, and Title IX work with NCAA and universities. He received his BA from Cedarville College in 1981 and his J.D. from the University of Dayton in 1985. He has been admitted to the bar to practice before the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Supreme Court of the United States.
